It is interesting when you view the first photo, you do not think anything is missing, or that it lacks an interesting composition. Many people place the subject matter in the center of the photograph, it is the norm to do so.
Yet, when applying the rule of thirds, it is amazing how much richer a photograph can become. The subject matter has a 'home' within the photograph, and it allows the viewer to have a context to relate the subject to.
great job with this. It is funny when I look at the second photo it is one type that I have taken many times, a good picture. But when you used the rule of thirds it is a great photo. More focus is one the subjects and what is happening.
ReplyDeleteGreat examples! I like how the second photo leads your eye up and across the image.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing is that BOTH of these photos display the rule of thirds. On the top each person is on a third and on the bottom the couple is on the rule of thirds. Notice as you watch movies how when the leading man and woman are doing their shots together that the camera follows each of them and keeps them on those exact spots. Cameramen have amazing jobs and do quite a dance in order to maintain this ratio...
